Aswath wins Serbia Open Masters; Sarana takes final blitz
The classical title was decided on Buchholz after a 7.5/9 tie, while the festival’s final blitz produced a perfect five-match winner.

S Aswath won the Serbia Open 2026 Masters on Buchholz after he and Matfey Yurasov finished unbeaten on 7.5/9. The final classification gave Aswath a 50–49 Buchholz edge.
Both players scored six wins and three draws. Aswath secured first place by drawing Ethan Vaz in Round 9, while Yurasov defeated Evgenios Ioannidis.
In the festival’s separate Final Blitz, Alexey Sarana won all five matches. Sarana beat Mitrabha Guha in the last round; Guha finished second with four match wins.
