Three presidential tickets cleared for 2026 FIDE election
FIDE’s Electoral Commission approved the valid ticket list after a preliminary review ahead of the September vote in Samarkand.

FIDE’s Electoral Commission has approved three valid presidential tickets after its preliminary examination of the nominations submitted for the 2026 election.
• Jan Henric Buettner for president with Malcolm Pein for deputy president.
• Wadim Rosenstein for president with Gordon Tang for deputy president.
• Timur Turlov for president with Viswanathan Anand for deputy president.
The election is scheduled for September 26 at the FIDE General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Each member federation represented at the assembly has one vote.
The decision advances the three tickets from the submitted nominations covered in ChessEver’s earlier report to the approved list of valid candidacies.
