Praggnanandhaa takes sole Saint Louis lead with 5/6
Two wins and a draw produced a one-point Day 1 lead in the rapid event.
Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu finished Day 1 of the 2026 Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz as the sole leader on 5/6 after defeating Fabiano Caruana with Black in Round 3.
The victory was his second in a row after an opening-round draw. Under the Grand Chess Tour rapid scoring system, two wins and one draw gave him five points from six available.
Six rapid rounds remain before the tournament moves to blitz. The event preview has the full field and format.
