Modipalli Deekshitha earns first IM norm with 2465 performance in Pontevedra
A 5.5/9 score against nine titled opponents produced a 2465 performance and three norm results.
Fourteen-year-old WCM Modipalli Deekshitha earned her first IM norm at the XIV Torneo Internacional Cidade de Pontevedra Masters in Spain. Chess.com reports that the same performance also produced WGM and WIM norms.
The official final player card gives Deekshitha 5.5/9, a 2465 performance rating and 13th place after she started 81st. All nine opponents were titled: she scored three wins, five draws and one loss, including victories over two international masters.
The Pontevedra card records a 184.4-point rating gain. At the following Leça Chess Open, Deekshitha added 4.5/9 with a 2302 performance and another 128.4-point gain. Chess.com reported that these were the final two stops of a four-event European run that took her live-rating estimate to 2454.
