Royal, Grieve and Williams share British lead before final round
Three players enter the last round tied on 6.5/8, while the women’s title race is level on 5/8.
Shreyas Royal, Harry Grieve and Simon Williams share the lead in the 2026 British Chess Championship on 6.5/8 before Sunday’s final round.
Royal drew on the top board in Round 8, while Grieve and Williams won to join him at the top. Four players are half a point behind on 6/8.
The British Women’s Championship is also level: Bodhana Sivanandan and Lan Yao both have 5/8. The final round starts at 10:00am on Sunday.
