Milosz Szpar takes Kavala Open lead with Round 8 win
A board-one victory produced a half-point lead with one round remaining in the nine-round Group A.
GM Milosz Szpar defeated IM Christos Krallis in Round 8 to take sole first at the 35th Kavala Open Group A.
Szpar entered the round half a point behind Krallis, then won with Black on board one. The result moved the Polish grandmaster to 7/8, with the Greek international master second on 6.5/8.
The nine-round tournament in Kavala concludes on August 4.
